It’s reveal day for Studio Calico’s The Underground October kits! I worked with the main scrapbook kit and the scrapbook add ons. My favorite items? The map patterned paper in the main kit and the chevron veneer by Pink Fresh Studio in the Notting Hill add on. Love them both and need more!
Just Go: This is my main kit only layout and I really love how it turned out. The map paper totally inspired me to use these hiking photos and I wanted to keep the design simple to keep the focus on the picture. I handstitched over the stamped title for some visual interest and then added a lift up flap to include my extra photos and journaling.
First Day: I mixed a bunch of kraft items with some brighter shades of color in this first day of school layout. I used the kraft packaging bags from the kits for the folded paper section and then printed my journaling and added the “smile” vellum die cut sticker right on top.
Front Porch Sunset: We recently hung a porch swing on our front porch and all this past summer it was a great spot for sitting outside and watching the beautiful sunsets. I stamped the floral design and then quickly filled in the open areas with acrylic paint. The gold paint that comes in the Piccadilly add on adds a nice sheen in real life.
Two Month Old: Since I’m teaching a whole workshop on Scrapbooking Baby’s 1st Year at Creative Live next month (I’ll be blogging about that in more detail in the coming days/weeks, but be sure to RSVP if you’re interested in this FREE video class!), I wanted to refresh my baby layout skills. I loved the greens and blues in the map paper in the main kit and it sort of directed the other colors in this layout. I used a die cut word “two” at a stitching template and then painted inside of the stitches to bring out more of the blue on the page. Gosh, they grow up way too fast, don’t they?!
And that’s my October gallery! Have a wonderful weekend and check back for more info about Creative Live!
