Studio Calico’s November kit, Handmade, is live! I was a busy bee this month and was able to get 5 layouts done with a variety of the main kit, Pincushion, Thimble, and Tatting. First up is my main kit only layout:
Ninety: This is my husband’s grandmother at the little family reunion/birthday party we attended a few weeks ago. I love the photo of her with a balloon creation hat on her head. She’s awesome.
Supplies: Handmade, Sew Easy Cross Stitch Piercer, brown floss
Cousins: This one was made with just the Thimble add on.. I used a big photo on this and converted it to black and white to make the colors in the papers/embellies really pop. Classic photo shoot outtake. All the kids are doing different things. Love it! I altered the JBS letters by embossing them with some Zing! powder.
One: This one uses mostly the OA cards from Thimble. The are just too cute! Plus the stamp quote and alpha from Tatting. Super easy and fast to put together.
Six: I went a little stamp and punch happy on this one! I stamped the butterfly stamps from Tatting on some white cardstock using Versamark inkpad…then heat embossed with White Zing!. Sprayed Mister Huey’s in Piglet, Cameo, Orchard, and Lemonade over the embossed images and wiped off the excess. This allows the white stamped image to show with a “halo” of the mist around it. Then I used a butterfly punch to punch them out, since I was way too lazy to hand cut all those butterflies! yikes. The punch didn’t fit the stamps perfectly…but that was fine with me. It was fast.
Smile: I had a lot of fun with this one. First, I love the photo. It’s a real, non-cheesy, not forced smile from Connor. A rare thing in front of the camera latey! Second, I love the BG brads…and you get so many of them in the pack. Perfect!
And that’s it! I sort of wish I could have gotten the December Daily kit as well… but I had just finished mine when we found out it was going to be offered this month. Oh well. I’ll admire all of the ones in the gallery next month!
