SC’s March kit went live last night! I’m late in getting up my blog post here, but still wanted to share what I did this month. I wish I could stay up until midnight to ring in reveal with everyone…but this mama needs to sleep when she can! Between a 5 year old who wanders into our room almost nightly and a 16 month old who thinks he should wake up as often as a newborn at night… well…midnight is WAY too late for me. But I digress. Back to layouts. I got three addons this month: Babbling Brook, Sunny Clearing and Wildflower (which is the only one still available right now). Although the add on pattern papers are still there as well as the SC papers. So if you missed out on an add on you wanted, you can at least still snag the patterned papers.
We had a zoo-rrific summer last year, visiting 3 different zoos in a short time span with various cousins on each trip. It was a lot of fun and I wanted to get my fave snapshots from all the zoo trips on one page. To keep the design uncluttered, I shrunk my pics down to 2×3, punched them in circles, and made a white circle home for each photo by masking and misting with Mister Huey’s Clover. I also tried out some Zing embossing powder to get the woodgrain stamp to stand out more on the patterned paper. I used Chesnut Opaque Zing. (and don’t forget you need a heat tool for zing-ing!)
Oh, and to get my bee stamp with both black yellow stripes, I first stamped the image onto the layout with Black Stazon. Then stamped it again onto some yellow gingham patterened paper and cut out the segments I wanted to be yellow. Glue those little yellow segments onto the first stamped image and viola…your bee has stripes!
I loved the MM flowers in Wildflower and the delicate feel of the whole kit. I used these photos of Cate dressed up as Ariel for the Disney Princess lunch at Epcot.
And finally, the little fish on the Cosmo paper caught my eye right away and made me think of this shot of Will splashing at the pool when he was just 4 months or so. I used the Sew Easy tool to do the stitching. It was really easy to use!
And that’s it! Well, I did do another page with the March kit, but can’t share that until later this week. Thanks for stopping by!
