I meant to share this earlier, but it’s been a busy week here with a husband working loooonnngggg hours and a mama doing it all on her own. So, blogging kind of fell to the wayside by the end of the week. Anyways, if you are free this evening and have the items on hand already or want to file this away for next year…here’s a fun, easy love themed craft courtesy of Martha. Stewart. Martha Stewart. But I guess you figured that out, right? 😉
Here’s what you need:
Some felt (I used pink and red of course!), a 4 inch circle template, marker for tracing, some thin wire, thin ribbon that matches the felt, scissors, and hot glue.
Step 1: Trace your circle and cut out.
Step 2: Cut a piece of wire that’s a little shorter than the diameter of the circle. Cut a piece of ribbon that’s a little longer than the diameter of the circle.
Step 3: Use the hot glue to glue the wire right down the middle of the felt. Then quickly glue the ribbon down on top of the wire to hide it. If you work quickly you can do both at the same time with one sweep of the glue gun!
Step 4: Fold the felt circle in half so it’s sort of like a taco and the ribbon/wire is the taco meat. I know…strange analogy! But that’s what it reminded me of! Now, this is the part that gave my MOPS group a little trouble when we did this craft the other week. You need to shape the taco into a fortune cookie. I found it easiest to just pinch the taco ends down and together with one hand and form the wire with my other hand.
Once you get the shape right, you’re done! So easy and fast. Make a little plate of these for a fun little decor item.
Fill them with little hershey’s kisses and send in the kids’ lunchboxes. Type up little “fortunes” on strips of paper and slip inside for your valentine. How cute would these look in a little chinese take-out box, each with a fortune inside?!
Happy Valentine’s Day! xo
