Well, we celebrated Will’s first birthday over the weekend. And I mentioned last week that I was making my own decorations for the event… last minute of course! That’s just how I operate it seems. Anyways, they turned out pretty cute I think AND they were easy to do. Here’s what I came up with using some pieces from My Mind’e Eye Lil’ Robots line. (I only had the die cut sheet and two pieces of patterned paper from the line…I matched some other papers from my stash to the Robots line to round it out)
The banner was super simple to make. I used my Slice with the Animal Crackers cartridge, a 2.5 inch circle punch, a silver ink pad, and some pop dots. I cut the banner squares solids to 4×4 and the banner square patterns to about 3.5×3.5. Adhered the patterned color to the solid. Then used the Slice to cut out the banner letters at 2.5 inches. Glued the letters to white cardstock circles cut with the circle punch. Inked the edges of the circles with some silver ink and then used a pop dot to give them some dimension on the squares. Easy!
Then, the cupcake toppers: (sorry for the blurry pic… the bday boy was waiting impatiently for his cupcake!)
For these, I used my 2.5 inch circle punch again, a 2 inch scalloped circle punch, my Slice with the Animal Crackers cartridge, and some of the die cuts from the Robots line. First, I made the “Happy Birthdy Will” sentiment in Word, printed them out and punched with the scalleoped circle punch. Then punched some 2.5 inch circles out of patterned paper. Used the Slice to cut out number 1’s. And then glued 2 finished circles back to back with a toothpick placed in between. And that’s it! Simple, but cute.
And here’s the boy with his cupcake. He didn’t really take a bite…just sort of played with it.
