I have nothing new scrapbooking-wise to share today, but thought my neglect of this blog had gone on long enough. So, here’s a bunch of photos to explain my absence. Summer is in full swing and I’m trying to fill the days with these three crazy kiddos and wear them out. That way they have less energy to fight with each other, right?! THAT part of family togetherness IS driving me batty…anyone else? Any tips on how to stop the bickering? I’d love to hear them! ugh. Here’s some of the things we’ve been up to…
Have you ever made one of these bubble maker things? Cate did this at preschool and it’s really pretty neat. It’s made using a little plastic container. Like the kind that you’d get at the grocery store with a little side potato salad in it or something. You make a little hole in the side for a straw to fit through. Then cover the top with a piece of washcloth held on with a rubber band. Place a few drops of dishwashing soap on the washcloth, rinse it under some water (just to wet it…you don’t need water in the little plastic cup) and there you go… Bubbles galore! The best part is that it’s reuseable, so you just re-wet and re-soap the washcloth to use it again.
Cate’s ballet recital was back in June. And oh my…these little girls were CUTE! And they actually danced up there on stage besides just looking good! Her class danced to Prince Ali from Aladdin. Can you say GOLD and HOT PINK?! But it did look adorable, I must admit!
Bowling. Have you heard about the free summer bowling program for kids? If not, check here to see if they have it in your area. You just sign your kids up and then they get 2 free games a day for the whole summer. Awesome! And great to do on a rainy day or when it’s too hot to be outside!
I’ve been working on some home improvement projects the past month or so. Slowly but surely. I have 3-ish more months to get them done before baby arrives! A bunch of things came in big boxes…which were perfect for box robots. Who knew?! This had to occupy them for like 3 days…just playing with big boxes in the garage. Love that!
And then there’s been LOTS and LOTS of this… SWIMMING! Swim lessons for 2 weeks and now just almost daily trips in the afternoon to our neighborhood pool. I’m so grateful that we have a pool right down the street to use! And the big news is that the boys are swimming underwater!!!! And treading water! Woohoooo!
Catching bugs. Always a highlight for my children. Although they didn’t seem to enjoy the ants their crumbs attracted in the family room. hmmmm.
Connor and Jack started T-ball classes a few weeks ago. That’s been fun to watch!
Busch Gardens! We don’t get there too often…but every few weeks it’s a nice little day out.
And that’s been the gist of our summer so far. Along with doing 500 piece puzzles, going to the free movies on Tuesdays, hitting the library for the summer reading program activities each week, going to story time at Barnes and Noble, and those weekly errands that never seem to end. But so far, we’re having fun and just soakin’ it in! How’s your summer going?!
