So, the reason Cate and I hauled ourselves all the way to France was to attend my youngest sister’s wedding. People have been asking me, “Does she live in France? Is she marrying a Frenchman?” and the answer to both of those is no. She lives in Charleston, SC with her now husband. But his family is German and they own a “chateau” in the rural Anjou, France. Anjou is near Angers, which is in the Loire Valley. I think. Anyways, this is not just some little summer cottage or something…. it’s really an old, old castle. A castle. With a moat. And a little chapel. And beautiful roses everywhere you look. It really was a gorgeous backdrop for a wedding and made it feel like it was a fairytale or something.
Here I am with my sisters and Cate the first night before a little family dinner we had. Yes, I’m the really pale one! hee!
The next day was spent in wedding prep…we got our nails done in the morning and then the rehearsal in the afternoon. Cate was thrilled to have her first manicure at age 3!
Here are some shots from the rehearsal and around the chateau itself.
The wedding site… they walked through the rose arches.
I could never get the whole thing in the photo with my 50mm lens. Grrr. Anyways, then the next day was the wedding! It was gorgeous.
Cate getting her hair all curled by my sister. She has decided she likes having curly hair now.
The bride and groom. Missy and Karl.
My family. Can you tell Cate is DONE in this photo?
I love this one of my dad and sister.
And finally one at the end of the long night.
The whole trip was quite the experience. And while it would have been nice to have my whole family there, it was sort of sweet to do the mother-daughter thing. It’s a special memory I hope she can remember some of! There are certainly enough photos to show her and you know the scrapbook pages will be coming soon!
Thanks for stopping by if you’ve made it through all these photos! Have a great day!
