Don’t you love Fridays? Today it was my turn to post over on the Pink Paislee blog. Fridays will be sketch days over there, so I created a layout based on a sketch by the oh-so-talented Becky Fleck. You can find her sketches at PageMaps (and you should bookmark this site because it’s FULL of inspiration!). Anyways, here’s my take on her sketch. I had fun with the Pink Paislee tree stamp…it’s just too cute!
These are some photos from last sping/summer. Great Grandma sent the kids some praying mantis egg cases (because she knew that Connor especially loves praying mantises) and we waited 2 weeks for those little guys to hatch out. When they did…oh my, it was very cool. There were hundreds of them crawling out of the egg cases. They are just miniature versions of the adults, but sort of see through at first. Then they get nice and green. To say the kids were excited about the baby mantises would be an understatement! (And I was pretty wowed too…being an ex-Biology teacher and environmental educator!) So, if you have kids that love bugs and nature, order some egg cases (they are cheap) for a fun spring science lesson. Just be sure to leave the egg cases OUTSIDE so you don’t have lots of mantis houseguests!
Have a great weekend.
